- For those of you out there curious about those Gate's Foundation grants that went to all Kaua'i libraries except Princeville Public Library, here are the reasons:
- Princeville Public Library is the only library in the state system already entirely outfitted with modern PC's for staff and public use.
- North Shore area families' average income was above the margin used by the Gate's Foundation for determining which libraries were eligible for the grants.
- Our library was built with an eye to the future. It was actually built larger than what the North Shore population requires (the North Shore population of 4631 comprises just about 9% of the total population according to the 1990 census). In other words, the North Shore Public Library was built to meet the needs not just for the community today, but for the community for the next 15-20 years.
