BOOK SALE!

Saturday, September 11, 2010

The Book Sale will start at 9:00 am for current (2010) Friends of the North Shore Library members only. Non-members are invited to attend beginning at 10:00 am.

MEMBERSHIP ADVANTAGE - EARLY ENTRY TO BOOK SALES
As you may have noticed above, when you are a member of the 'Friends of the North Shore Library', you gain early entrance to the Book Sales.
The member sale hours begin one hour earlier than they do for non-members. If your membership is not current, you may join for the 2010 calendar year at the Sale and therefore, be admitted at 9:00 am.  You'll find Membership Forms at the Library, online at http://www.princevillelibrary.com/membapp.pdf, and during the Book Sale.  Once completed, you may drop your Membership Form into the Friends' locked wood box at the Library any time the Library is open. Or, you may join online.

That's right! NEW this year, if you're interested in becoming a Friends' member, you may apply online. Simply select your level of membership on the right hand menu of this page (below the word 'Membership'). Then, click on "Add to Cart" and you may use your credit card or your PayPal account to join immediately, online. It's easy!

BARGAIN PRICES
The book sale shelves are overflowing with many new selections at our bargain prices; $1 for most hardcovers and $.50 (3 for $1) for paperbacks.  We also have CDs and videotapes.  Of new and special interest, especially to teachers, home-schoolers, and parents, is a large selection of donated  textbooks and other school materials.

BOOK SALE DONATIONS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME
We look forward to receiving contributions of books, etc. in good condition.  Contributions can be dropped off at the Library during its regular hours.  The process of preparing books for the quarterly sale continues throughout the year.  All donations are reviewed by the Library to determine if they are needed at the Library before they are given to the Book Sale so please don't wait until the week of any sale to drop them off

BOOK SALES ARE USUALLY HELD ON THE FIRST SATURDAY
OF MARCH, JUNE, SEPTEMBER, AND DECEMBER

Every three months the Friends hold a used book sale at the Library. At that time, books, CDs and DVDs are sold at bargain prices. This has been a great source of funding for us, averaging $1,150 profit per sale. Our thanks to Diane Chait and Steve Sobel. They have done a fantastic job of running the events, along with the massive ongoing job of shelving and categorizing all of the books and CD/DVDs. Our thanks also to the many members who have volunteered to help at these sales throughout the year.

The next sale is coming up on Saturday, March 6th, so mark your calendars!  It begins at 9:00 am for Friends members only. Remember, one of the benefits of being a member of the Friends is that you are allowed entrance to the sales almost one hour before the general public! The sale will be open to the general public from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
