Aloha Friends, As we welcome the New Year, we anticipate the blessings and transitions that await us, personally and professionally. On February 1st, we will welcome aboard Michelle Young, Librarian III, as head librarian of Princeville Library. As a former staff member of the Lihue Public Library and most currently, the Hawaii State Library, she will, undoubtedly, bring much experience and knowledge. I will then relinquish my position of 6 years as the Acting Branch Manager (Library Technician VIII) and transition to a Library Technician V. This position will allow me to continue to process and link books, DVDs and other library material into the system for your availability. Eventually, I will relocate to O'ahu to live and work in a library there. As a newlywed (of 7 months), I am very eager to embrace this new chapter in my life and am very excited for this opportunity! The desire to live and work on the same island as my husband is long overdue. As we grow and change with new staff and new members (and Board of Directors) of the Friends of the North Shore Library at Princeville, I know the library will continue to enrich our community and welcome new (and returning) patrons from here and afar. With the tremendous support we've been given, I am confident that Michelle will find much success in her new role. Thank you again for almost 13 years of your patronage, your friendship, your loyalty, and the time and energy given to keep our library doors open. It is and always will be a pleasure to serve you and we look forward to many more years to come. With heartfelt appreciation, |
