Aloha to our North Shore Community and “Friends” beyond,
As we begin the Year of the Dragon, I wish to thank the 2011 departing Board members for their contributions and to welcome the new and returning Board members for 2012.
Our board also welcomes our library's new Branch Manager, Michelle Young, who started on February 1, 2012. She comes to us from the Hawaii State Library on Oahu. Stop in and say hello.
Jennifer Guerin, who has been the library's Acting Branch Manager, will stay on as a Library Technician. Mahalo Nui to Jennifer for her six years of dedicated service.
Our goal this year is the continued support of the library's mission to provide quality programs and services. We will continue to offer the "Friends" core programs:
- Monthly Dottie Nakea Memorial Speaker Program
- Weekly Children's Story Hour for ages 0-5 (Ka Hola Kamalei -The Young Children's Hour)
- Monthly Displays of Hawaiian crafts, personal collections, and local organization materials (Lions, Rotary)
- Quarterly Book Sales
Additionally, we hope to offer new programs to meet the needs of our community, such as Adult Literacy and Creative Writing. All our programs are advertised in our e-newsletters, posted flyers, public service announcements, and our Friends website at http://www.princevillelibrary.com.
If you are not a member or need to renew your membership dues, I strongly encourage you to join the "Friends." Your membership and donations make it possible for the library to grow and to offer more programs and services. To renew or to join the "Friends," contact our membership coordinator, Michelle Thomas via email at msthomas1@ymail.com, or go to our Friends website where you can download a membership form. You can also pick up a membership form at the library.
In addition to the funds generated through Friends membership, book sales, and donations, we are in need of volunteers for a variety of tasks, such as book shelving, book sale preparation, advertising, etc. To volunteer, contact our volunteer coordinator, Jane Ryan, at janeryan55@hotmail.com.
